Major Revamp

On 05/10/2009, in Uncategorized, by Bal

The website is not organised the way I would like it so I have decided to do a major revamp and change the way pretty much everything is stored and archived… also making sure that everything that should’nt be public is password protected correctly.

What does all this mean? Pretty much nothing to you but for me it means the website is easier to navigate and the end user has an overall better experience without evening noticing :-D

Meal at Laguna

On 02/12/2008, in Uncategorized, by Bal

These pics were taken at Laguna Tandoori Restaurant using my Minolta 50mm f1.7 and a few with my Sony 18-70mm Kit Lens

Collected my Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7 Autofocus Lens from the post office today and first impressions are great, took some real nice sharp pics which look great imo but still got a lot of playing around with the settings before I will be happy.

Here are a few samples

Finally got hold of the lens I wanted! A Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7 Autofocus Lens http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/detail.asp?IDLens=17 this lens is much faster than the kit lens I have and should be great for them low light situations… Hopefully will have it by the weekend so expect some new photos to be uploaded very soon!

New Flashgun!

On 09/11/2008, in Uncategorized, by Bal

The pop-up flash does its job well on the A350 but I was finding all to often that it was creating unwanted shadows in a lot of the pictures I had taken. Most of this is probably still down to my technique etc but I felt it was important to find out what my options were and what sort of flashguns were available.

After doing a whole heap of searching and research my options were to go with a original Sony flashgun or an 3rd party flashgun from either Sunpak or Metz. Price wise the Sunpak was more in my budget compared to Metz but then I found a great link on avforums about the Sony HVL-F42AM at Jacobs Digital!

For around the same price as the Sunpak flashgun I could get the Sony HVL-F42AM for £129.99 inc free delivery with the use of a voucher code and £30.00 cash back from Sony! This brought the total price £99.99 which is bargain once I get the cash back cheque… Normal online retail price are from is anywhere from £140 – £190 + P+P

Holding the camera

On 09/11/2008, in Uncategorized, by Bal

So today I have been reading and watching some videos on taking lowlight shots without the use of a tripod. It’s important to keep the camera as steady as possible that’s why learning the correct technique to hold a camera is crucial.

On 08/11/2008, in Uncategorized, by Bal

Welcome to BalSanghera.com!

Now that I have finally got round to creating a blog to showcase my photography and discuss the general learning curve of being a dslr newbie I thought it will be a good idea to just a post a little something about what I have…

My Kit so far:
Sony DSLR-A350K With SAL 18-70mm http://www.sony.co.uk/product/dss-digital-slr/dslr-a350k
SONY AMC-AMF11 ACCESSORY KIT FOR DSLR ALPHA
SanDisk Extreme III 8GB CompactFlash

I will be looking to get a few more must have accessories soon but need to decide whats more important… Eventually will be adding a new lens possibly a Minolta Prime AF 50mm f/1.7 Lens, a decent tripod but dont know which one yet though, a flashgun with diffuser and maybe a remote trigger if I have any money left!

Whats next…
Well I have a lot of reading to do and still got figure out how to best use my new dslr! Also need to start tweaking my blog and adding some pictures!

Anyone reading this and wants a good starting guide in easy to understand english then check out http://friedmanarchives.com I paid around £12ish or $19.99 for his ebook which is great if you know very little or nothing about your new camera!

So for now thats all, expect to see some updates very soon until then check out one of my first pictures I took with my new camera!
